Togher and District Active Retirement Association in Co. Louth have released a commemorative booklet of poetry, prose and art created by their members to remember those who have suffered loss in the Covid-19 pandemic.

This beautiful booklet contains original works from the members of Togher and District ARA and we are delighted to present a poem from Margaret Reilly.

Bless Me Father

Bless me father,
What have we done?
To be inflicted infected
So many gone.
But the day will dawn.
The birds wills sing.
Little children will run and laugh with glee
While we sit at the window and watch the bee.
In remembrance of the year two thousand and twenty,
When most of the world had enough and plenty,
When overnight this virus swept
Around the world as we all slept.

Someday we may find the answer
Of how this virus did manifest.
Until then the mystery lies.
