Largest one day expo for the older Irish consumer takes place in Punchestown, Co Kildare, on Wednesday 5th June
Wellness consultant and former TV presenter Bibi Baskin gets set for a road trip with her Active Retirement pals in a funky Ford Cortina today (08.03.19). The gang met up at Blackrock Castle in Cork city as Bibi launched Ireland’s biggest one-day expo for the older consumer, the Active Retirement Trade and Tourism Show.
All roads lead to the show, which takes place on Wednesday 5th June at the Events Centre, Punchestown, Co Kildare.
The Trade and Tourism Show celebrates all that is good about getting older in Ireland and will focus on areas such as health, activity, financial security, travel, holidays, lifelong learning, social and cultural activities, cooking, sport fashion, investments, and legal advice.
At today’s launch, wellness consultant and former broadcaster Bibi said she was delighted to be involved with Active Retirement Ireland and its focus on keeping older people active and well.
“In the last few years, we’ve really seen a strengthening in the retired community in Ireland and learnt more about how staying active and connected with others benefits people when they leave the working world and enter into the world of retirement,” said Bibi.
“As a hotelier myself, I know as well as anyone about the purchasing power of older people, and the upcoming Trade and Tourism Show is the perfect place for retired people to come together and learn more about a range of activities and opportunities catering directly to them.”
The exhibition is free of charge to attendees and takes place each year in a different location around the country.
Maureen Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Active Retirement Ireland, said the event brings together a huge variety of best deals and offers available to older people in Ireland.
“We’ve seen in recent years just how powerful the older consumer has become in the marketplace and how economies globally are now being driven by an ageing population,” she said. “We know that our Active Retirement members are very savvy about where they spend their money, given that they are all on a fixed income. They want to enjoy their retired life and get the best value for all the activities they like to explore as part of life.
“The annual Trade and Tourism Show gives them the perfect opportunity to discover and celebrate the best of Irish travel, tourism and industry. It has quickly become a must-attend fixture on retirees’ calendars each year and is a great day out for older people.”
Epilepsy was the diagnosis I got from my doctor. I knew that this is chronic and so far the only thing I could do to decrease the seizures – wasn’t to treat it. He told me to try using Klonopin (Clonazepam) from https://buyklonopintabs.com, prescribed me the dosing and now I am with it. The amount of repeating attacks fell down and can say in general this is a good choice.
“This year’s list of events includes a range of talents from different Active Retirement groups, the Charming Soubrettes, the amazing ‘Forget Me Nots’ and the wonderful talent of Dance Theatre Ireland. Attendees can brush up on their culinary skills and advice from Craft Butchers of Ireland, learn family history tips with the Irish Genealogy Society and new hobbies at the Restore and Wellness Stage. Tai Chi, basket weaving, and photography are just a few of the hobbies attendees can learn more about, along with the new pursuit for the older generation, pickleball.”
Many more events and activities will soon be announced.
